The reputation of this unpretentious, sympathetically-converted farmhouse auberge has always been outstanding but regular guests report a further enhancement following the 2014 change of ownership.
The cuisine is exceptional and dinner can be taken in the restaurant, in the conservatory or out on the shady terrace overlooking the pretty garden. There’s a good value, interesting wine list to complement the equally well-priced menus.
The renovated rooms are a good size for this category of hotel. The location is fairly quiet but it’s best to opt for garden side if available as trains are just audible through open windows in the roadside accommodation.
Guests who arrive with no great expectations tend to depart ecstatic, vowing to return as soon as poss. There's quite a bit of dross in the Loire Valley but this delightful auberge is very special.
