BRITTANY Here we have a typical, family-run hotel with a pieds-dans-l’eau location that is doubly privileged. Le Cap Coz is a sandy spit of land that juts out into the sea to the south-east of Fouesnant. At the front of the hotel, the cul-de-sac road is shaded by pines and bordered by a safe, sandy beach. The other side of this white, two storey Logis de France overlooks the sheltered Penfoulic creek where sailing boats ply back and forth to the harbour.

This is the view from the restaurant to which Michelin awards a coveted Bib Gourmand).  Here guests enjoy the handiwork of chef/patron Ludovic Le Torc’h who exploits the natural resources of this bountiful region with a certain panache. There’s a no-frills look about the small lounge and its adjoining space for billiards and the attractively renovated bedrooms are equally straight-forward. This means that rates are very reasonable and vary only according to the room’s size and aspect.

Parents with tiny tots usually opt for a self-catering cottage in Brittany as their first tentative family holiday abroad. But, for those who prefer to relax in an hotel, it would be difficult to imagine a more suitable spot than the Pointe at le Cap Coz. Friendly, easy-going and it won’t break the bank.
