Over the years the Bernard family have continued to upgrade their
farmhouse hotel, aiming to exceed the expectations of their
predominantly British clientele. In this way regular guests will
rediscover all the things that they appreciated on a previous visit as
well as a few welcome surprises to ensure that they come back again next
time. This is intelligent, sensitive hotel keeping which is deservedly
successful.
Bedrooms converted from the main building, hayloft
and cowsheds are grouped around the car-free courtyard. Prices vary
according to size and, although the decor in each room is individual,
the overall look is perhaps more boutique than rustic chic. Whichever
accommodation you choose, you'll find it homely and tastefully furnished
with supremely comfortable beds and swish bathrooms. Combine this with an idyllically
peaceful setting plus a good unpretentious restaurant (Bib Gourmand) and you have a
recipe for a memorable first or last night in France.
Ducks and
geese, doves and kittens wander about, reminding you that this was
originally a working farm. Indeed the cheese served at dinner is
likely to have been made en famille with milk from a neighbouring
farmer. It's this mix of agricultural purity, continual investment and
sophisticated hospitality that makes Ferme du Vert such an appetising prospect.
