The Arlatan is ideally placed in the very heart of Arles. It’s an hotel that has benefited greatly from long-standing ownership by the same family, currently in their fourth generation. Thanks to their sensitivity, state-of-the-art facilities coexist happily with the classical elegance of the historic buildings.
There are spacious, airy lounges, three lifts, vaulted stone ceilings, a heated swimming pool in an internal courtyard and pretty terraces everywhere. And, best of all, valet parking. Remember that the maze of alleys in the centre of Arles makes it a poor base for touring; so abandon your car but allow a tidy sum for the garage.
The bedrooms share the elegance of the sitting rooms below. Some accommodations overlook the garden, others embrace the rooftops. Those that give onto the street should not be affected by excessive noise. A few rooms have a private terrace. Breakfast is buffet style – taken indoors or in the courtyard.
Although the size of the hotel precludes the personal attention that can be found in some smaller establishments, the owners are very much hands on and run a tight ship.
