Pierre Jugy has been relected mayor of this picturesque village so it is likely to be the charming Madame Jugy who makes you welcome.

Although only an hour’s drive from the coast at St-Tropez, Tourtour is 690m above sea level – ‘Le village dans le ciel’ they call it locally. And the breath-taking views from the esplanade beside Pierre’s Mairie are more than matched by those from his auberge, about 15 minutes’ walk down the hill. An amazing, panoramic landscape awaits you – from the Mont Sainte-Victoire in the west to the forested Massif des Maures to the south and east. Sunsets are the stuff of dreams.

The hotel is stylishly unfussy and built on three levels. The restaurant, decorated in warm Provencal colours, gives onto the south-facing dining terrace. Above are the majority of accommodations, some of which have a balcony. Steps lead down to the swimming pool where a bar operates in peak season. Below you’ll find the gated car park (payable) and the larger rooms which have walk-in windows from their terrace.

The restaurant has a fixed, no-choice menu and there are several bistros in the village if you climb the hill. A Michelin-starred restaurant is within a short drive.
