They don’t come much more authentically Provençal than this hotel. Right at the top of the pretty, medieval town of Seillans, the Deux Rocs is a 17th century maison de famille overlooking a peaceful little square with the ancient Fontaine d’Amont at its heart.

This is where you dine in summer, a charming setting shaded by fine plane trees. David Carre is the chef and his refined cuisine will delight fastidious gourmets. Gratin de pâtes à la truffe, cabillaud aux petits légumes en aïoli, crème brûlée à la lavende are signature dishes and cookery courses are arranged from time to time.

The inspiration behind this delightful hotel and the professionalism of its staff is taken from the owners, Julie and Nicolas Malzac, who trained at several of France’s top establishments. It is Nicolas who will guide you through his carefully selected wine list.

The Malzacs’ ‘hotel particulier’ now has modern bathrooms, individually decorated bedrooms (some with a touch of eccentricity) and a warm, homely ambience. This could be due to the antiques that complement other family heirlooms and pictures in the salon. Indeed you could be staying at the country abode of your favourite French aunt.

Here we have an hotel for those who can do without a pool, loungers, flunkies etc, preferring instead to enjoy genuine hospitality, great food and reasonable prices in a location oozing with character.
