Few would argue that the Hotel Champs Fleuris has the finest location in Morzine, irrespective of whether you stay in summer or in winter.

Within easy walking distance of the centre, and yet not hemmed in by other buildings or blighted by traffic noise, the hotel inhales clear mountain air on all sides. The Pleney bubble lift is literally on the door step, as is the ski school meeting point and jardin d’enfants. When the snow melts, the adjacent pistes are transformed into sunny meadows teeming with wild flowers.

On a visit in late June, when many Alpine resorts are ghost towns still half-asleep after a demanding winter, Morzine was humming with serious mountain bikers. But, with its games room, heated pool and tennis court, the Champs Fleuris is also an ideal base for active families who are tempted by some of the vast range of sports on offer in the resort.

All the accommodations have been renovated in a straight-forward Alpine style and each has a balcony, liberally anointed with flowers in summer. Rooms with shower wc have views towards the village while the remainder overlook the wooded slopes of le Pleney.

Cuisine is traditional Alpine fare, generously served in the bright airy dining room. The welcoming hosts, Véronique and Jean-Marie Michaud, run a professional but pleasantly relaxed establishment and are continually solicitous of their guests’ well-being.
