This hotel is a little Alpine gem - the creation of a dedicated husband and wife team who fell in love with the glorious Beaufortain area. This scenic, milk-and-honey region is characterised by frescoed baroque churches and sweet meadows from where the distinctive Beaufort cheese originates.

A few years ago Anne-Christine and Frédéric Boulanger stumbled upon a lovely old farmhouse in the quaintly picturesque village of Hauteluce. So they threw up their respective hotel jobs in Lausanne and set to work to convert it into an hotel that’s best described as contemporary boutique meets rustic chic.

Accommodations come in various shapes and sizes; the cheapest rooms have sky-lights, while the best have south-facing balconies. Pride of place goes to the restaurant whose simple furnishings belie the sophisticated cuisine. Here is a chef whose creative flair is yet another good reason for choosing this charming hotel. The innovative menus are enhanced by an excellent wine list, the result of Frédéric’s extensive research to find the most interesting local vintages.

In summer, a swimming pool awaits your return from some spectacular hiking in the lee of Mont Blanc; in winter, the sauna, hammam and jacuzzi are popular with skiers. Take the Chozal chair-lift on the doorstep to connect with the extensive ski domain of les Saisies; there’s a navette at the end of the day if you don’t feel like the red run home.
