The Hotel Arnold is just the ticket for those seeking the full-on Alsace experience.

You will have heard all about those picturesque wine villages full of photogenic, half-timbered houses in a variety of pastel hues. And you’ll want to dine in an atmospheric winstub rather than in a more traditional restaurant, but probably one where generous Alsatian cuisine matches a distinguished list of local vintages. Afterwards you'll yearn for a comfortable room with a flower-bedecked balcony from which to savour the panoramic views over the hotel’s own vineyards.

Step forward the Hotel Arnold, with full marks so far - and a lot more besides. The staff here, under the direction of the Bruno Simon and his (Arnold) wife, are unfailingly cheerful and helpful. And breakfast on your balcony is enhanced by kugelhopf from the in-house pastry chef and by those splendid views of the Black Forest hills on the horizon. The reception and the double-bedded rooms with balconies are to be found on the southern side of the village street. Across (and just down) the road is the Bib Gourmand winstub restaurant plus the hotel’s little boutique.

A third building houses the family rooms and the accommodations with twin beds. A giant wine barrel guards the entrance – a clear indication of where the establishment’s priorities lie. As they say here at the Hotel Arnold, ‘on respire le bonheur’.
