The Romantik Hotel Beaucour is our favourite bolthole in magnifcent Strasbourg. Just a few minutes walk from the cathedral, it’s even closer to the riverside promenades which lead to the picturesque Petite France quarter. If you have a car, park in the multi-storey opposite the hotel (charges are not exorbitant) and cherish the architectural and scenic splendour of the city on foot.
The hotel has been cobbled together from an ancient stick and brolly factory so the layout of the public rooms and accommodations in the half-timbered buildings is far from regular. The approach is down a quaint little alleyway, dotted with places in which to relax. The reception, wood-panelled breakfast room and stylishly comfortable sitting room set a tone that is more country house than city slick.
Add to this a distinctly individual décor for each bedroom and you have a centrally-located hotel that exudes class from the moment you arrive. Balnéo baths and flat screen TVs are standard in both ‘confort’ and ‘charme’ rooms but the latter have four-posters or beams to add more character. The pricier duplexes, however, would be our first choice. Have a good look at the images on the excellent website before booking.
In these days of boring conformity, it is refreshing to find a business hotel that has gone out of its way to charm the pants off honeymooners too!
